Achill Lament |
Short Song Description: Reflections of Achill Island in Co Mayo |
Long Song Description: Reflections of Achill Island in Co Mayo and time spent there as a young boy |
Story Behind the Song: The melody just came and at first I thought it was someone else's. It is similar to many but as far as I can tell is unique. As I realised it was taking on an Irish air I developed the various instruments to suit. The lead guitar provided a modern feel. The name comes from my boyhood days and a youth club visit to Achill Island in Co Mayo which I have never forgotten. A place of beauty where amethysts could be found along the shore. |
