Back To A Younger Me |
LyricsBack To A Younger Me© Bob Bentley 2022 Key E BPM 72 Time 03.32 Verse I'm an old man - but my mind's still young and free There's so much in the world now - that bothers me I keep coming 'cross situations, I never thought I'd face It's time I went daydreaming, off to a better place Chorus Early morning on the Big Sur, Warm sunshine in my eyes Highway 1 to Carmel Bay California skies Rocky Mountains of Alberta The Northern lights from Calgary I'm looking back at the good times Back to a younger me. I'm looking back at the good times Back to a younger me. Verse I get a feeling of disappointment when I turn on the news It seems to me there's too much power in the hands of just a few They take us to war, they divide us up, they don't have to feel our pain I think I've had my fill right now, so I'm going back again...... Bridge I wanna go back to Woodstock, back in the hippie days It would have been amazing there, just to drift away A time when things were changing, it was a time of rock n roll A time before the world began, to wear away my soul Verse I want to cast my mind back, to those days of love and peace When no one tried to cancel you, or call the thought police I wanna bring my family too, transport them back with me To start again from those heady days, before the woke society Chorus Early morning on the Big Sur, Warm sunshine in my eyes Highway 1 to Carmel Bay California skies The Rocky Mountains of Alberta The Northern lights from Calgary I'm looking back at the good times Back to a younger me. Looking back at the good good times Back at a younger me Back at a younger me. Short Song Description: Memories of my youth compared to life today. |
Long Song Description: Memories of my youth compared to life today and my disappointment with present standards and situations. |
Story Behind the Song: The Big Sur came out in recent conversation and reminded me of a wonderful time in California back in the early 70's. This got me looking back and realising just how lucky I have been in my life and my travels around the world, mainly though my military career. Canada is another love of mine, again through many military trips. Highlights include crossing the Rockies in October as winter was setting in and the vast Alberta prairies in the full heat of summer. Great to look back at a younger me and compare those times to present times. |
