It Won't Be Me Who Says Goodbye
Lyrics

It Wont Be Me Who Says Goodbye
© Bob Bentley 2021

Verse 1
All the time that I have known you,
with all that life has thrown you
You've never dodged the truth, or told me lies along the way
But now I asked you where you've been love, is it him that you have seen love
You turned away from me, you don't have the words to say

Chorus 1.
I'll stand my ground - not going to play your part
Won't make it easy for you - OK if that breaks your heart
You can do the talking, don't have to look me in the eye

I'll stand my ground - you won't see me walk off in the night
No not this time - I cannot always make things right my darling
If you want the other guy,
It won't be me who says goodbye

Verse 2
He was my friend, we used to drink beer
But for some time now, he hasn't been here
Should have put 2 and 2 together, but now it's clear to see
When we were younger he used to talk about you, now it looks like I'm gonna be without you
So what's gotta be said tonight, you're not going to hear it from me

Chorus 2.
I'll stand my ground - not going to play your part
Won't make it easy for you - ok if that breaks your heart
You can do the talking, don't have to look me in the eye

I'll stand my ground - you won't see me walk off in the night
No not this time - I cannot always make things right my darling
If you want the other guy
It won't be me who says goodbye

It won't be me who says goodbye

Short Song Description:
Unwanted breakup
Long Song Description:
A breakup is coming but he won't make it easy for her.
Story Behind the Song:
Originally I was looking for a similar style to some of the slower songs of the Eagles, Jackson Brown, Crosby Stills, genre but was having to cope with very husky vocals due to a throat condition. Now about one year later I am delighted to be able to update the song with a new vocal, a great improvement on the original.
