Like A Diamond |
LyricsLIKE A DIAMONDWords and Music by Bob Bentley © March 2018 Verse 1. Do you recall when you came aware There was a power, a star out there Long set, on a single course A talent rare, a special force Verse 2. But when it started we couldn't know The heights this rockin' boy would go The voice that moved us, made us proud Would have us sing his songs out loud Chorus 1. Like a Diamond, you have always shone Like a Diamond, that special light Like a Diamond, forever strong We'll all be diamonds tonight Bridge In all the things you say and do Love and goodness just shine through We've no regrets, and if there's tears It's joy for all these diamond years Chorus 2. Like a Diamond, you have always shone Like a Diamond, that special light Like a Diamond, forever strong We'll all be diamonds tonight Verse 3. The world has rocked you with it's blows We've shared your highs, we've felt you lows But nothing can attack our pride Make no mistake, we're by your side Verse 4. So this is just another time One more chance to see you shine The mic, the spotlight, one more page A diamond standing centre stage Chorus 3. Like a Diamond, you have always shone Like a Diamond, that special light Like a Diamond, forever strong We'll all be diamonds tonight Chorus 4. Like a Diamond, you have always shone Like a Diamond, that special light Like a Diamond, forever strong We'll all be diamonds for tonight Repeats to end Contact Information: Bob Bentley Email: bobbentley34@hotmail.com Website: bobbentleymusic.com |
Short Song Description: Upbeat pop ballad |
Long Song Description: Upbeat pop ballad originally written for a specific project to celebrate (Sir) Cliff Richard's Diamond Jubilee in showbiz. Not used on that occasion and now generic for any event, person or product |
Story Behind the Song: I'm a member of the The Guild Of International Songwriters and Composers and they contacted me out of the blue in March 2018 asking: "We wondered if you would be interested in having your name put forward for a very special songwriting opportunity? We have been approached by the President of a famous artists' fan club who wants to have a special tribute song written. We can provide more information if you are interested but it is all very hush hush at the moment. All will be revealed if you're interested - we're only asking a small select number of members who we know are outstanding writers. Please let me know if you're interested - thank you. " This started a process whereby I and two other songwriters wrote and submitted songs for the Diamond Jubilee concert of Sir Cliff Richard (The UKs longest running pop star?)to be presented at the Royal Albert Hall, London on 14th October this year! It's a very long and fantastic story but although those selecting the songs said the most fabulous things about all three, and I got to within touching distance of the eventual winner - I didn't get it. But what an amazing experience writing specifically to order for such a special occasion. It was an honour being asked to submit! |
