LyricsThe Drawing Room - The Song© Cyndi Corkran & Bob Bentley 2022 Key Am BPM 54 Time 03.56 Golden light streams Warm airy dreams And filters through the autumn air We held each other tight On warm summer nights I always loved to meet you there In the drawing room I do not know if you'll return For change is always certain I'll steal away until you do Behind these lush blue curtains In the drawing room Just to be with you In the afterglow of love Afterglow of love with you (Break) Golden light streams Warm airy dreams And filters through the autumn air We held each other tight On warm summer nights I always loved to meet you there In the drawing room I do not know if you'll return For change is always certain I'll steal away until you do Behind these lush blue curtains In the drawing room Just to be with you In the afterglow of love Afterglow of love with you In the drawing room The drawing room Music: Bob Bentley Lyrics: Cyndi Corkran ©August 2022 |
Short Song Description: WWI, a young woman in a grand house, awaiting the return of her lover. |
Long Song Description: A young woman, during WWI, in a grand house, with a beautiful drawing room, awaiting her lover. However, one never knows if one's lover will return, "for change is always certain..", especially in war. |
Story Behind the Song: Toward the end of July 2022, Cyndi contacted me to say that she had been inspired to write lyrics to the instrumental The Drawing Room. She offered to record a vocal for me to mix with the music track. Not ever anticipating a vocal version, I was surprised, thrilled and very curious as to how this could work. A really constructive and creative collaboration followed over a 4 week period - much of which I spent running on low power with a very heavy cold/virus. From the outset we agreed how we would play things and tracks and mixes went back and forth over the Atlantic accompanied by ideas and suggestions. It all fell together beautifully and before August had come to an end, The Drawing Room - The Song was born. |
